{"id":46777,"date":"2025-01-15T20:51:04","date_gmt":"2025-01-15T17:21:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/unesco.ir\/expanding-cooperation-between-the-iranian-national-commission-for-unesco-and-the-national-library-and-archives-of-iran\/"},"modified":"2025-01-15T20:51:04","modified_gmt":"2025-01-15T17:21:04","slug":"expanding-cooperation-between-the-iranian-national-commission-for-unesco-and-the-national-library-and-archives-of-iran","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unesco.ir\/en\/expanding-cooperation-between-the-iranian-national-commission-for-unesco-and-the-national-library-and-archives-of-iran\/","title":{"rendered":"Expanding Cooperation between the Iranian National Commission for UNESCO and the National Library and Archives of Iran"},"content":{"rendered":"<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>The Secretary-General of the Iranian National Commission for UNESCO and the President of the National Library and Archives of Iran held an official meeting to discuss the opportunities and challenges facing joint cultural and scientific projects, including the Memory of the World Program and the development of UNESCO Chairs.<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-37761\" src=\"https:\/\/unesco.ir\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/R3A0037-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p>During the meeting, which was attended by a number of officials from the Iranian National Commission for UNESCO and the Director General of the Department of Presidential Affairs, Public Relations and International Affairs of the National Library and Archives of Iran, Dr Hasan Fartousi, Secretary-General of the Iranian National Commission for UNESCO, and Dr Gholamreza Amir-Khani, President of the Organization, held discussions aimed at strengthening the country\u2019s cultural and scientific cooperation at the international level.<\/p>\n<p>At the meeting, held on 13 January 2025, Dr.Hasan Fartousi, Secretary-General of the Iranian National Commission for UNESCO, referring to the important role of the National Library in promoting Iran\u2019s culture and history, stated: \u201cThe National Library, as a legal entity with institution-building functions, plays a central role in fostering culture and preserving the country\u2019s cultural heritage.\u201d He continued: \u201cWe seek greater cooperation with and support for this institution so that we can make use of its capacities in pursuit of our shared objectives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Referring to UNESCO\u2019s 75-year history, Fartousi outlined the challenges facing the region and stated: \u201cThe imbalance among the committees of the National Commission for UNESCO, particularly in the fields of education and artificial intelligence, is one of our main challenges. To address this issue, the committees need to be managed in a manner that enables them to continue their activities independently of changes in management and to have a greater impact at the international level.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Regarding UNESCO Chairs in Iran, the Secretary-General of the National Commission for UNESCO stated: \u201cA mechanism has been envisaged whereby, in addition to universities based in Tehran, universities in other cities can also, through an encouraging approach, host UNESCO Chairs in Iran by implementing educational, scientific and cultural projects.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He further emphasized the National Commission\u2019s inherent role in facilitating and coordinating affairs among institutions and said: \u201cIt is possible to realize the idea of consensus at the national level and, subsequently, the idea of peace at the global level.
