The 11th UNESCO\/Jikji Memory of the World Prize will be awarded soon. UNESCO hereby invites Member States to nominate candidates in consultation with their National Commissions. In addition, international non-governmental organizations maintaining official relations with UNESCO whose activities include the preservation and conservation of documentary heritage are eligible to participate in the competition. The deadline for submitting nominations is 30 April 2026.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

The prize was established in recognition of the Buljo Jikji Simche Yojeol<\/em>, the oldest known extant book printed with movable metal type, which is inscribed in UNESCO\u2019s Memory of the World International Register. This work is one of the renowned entries in UNESCO\u2019s Memory of the World Programme, established to preserve documentary heritage shared by humanity and ensure public access to it.<\/p>\n

Supported by a contribution of US$40,000 from the Republic of Korea, the prize is awarded every two years to individuals or institutions that have made significant contributions to the preservation of and access to documentary heritage.
