The recent joint military aggression by the United States and the Israeli regime against our country has not only caused widespread destruction but also constitutes a shocking manifestation of flagrant violations of international law, humanitarian principles, and international conventions supported by UNESCO.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">These attacks have systematically targeted the fundamental pillars of civilian life and human dignity. To provide a clear account of the crimes committed, the resulting damage and violations are categorized as follows:<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Damage to Education:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul dir=\"ltr\">\n<li>The deliberate targeting of a primary school in Minab on 28 February, resulting in the martyrdom of 168 innocent students; a heartbreaking tragedy that has deeply wounded the conscience of humanity.<\/li>\n<li>The violation of the sanctity of schools as places of peace and security; institutions that should serve as environments for nurturing children, not as targets of attack.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Damage to Culture:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul dir=\"ltr\">\n<li>The attack on Golestan Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which constitutes a flagrant violation of the 1954 Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Damage to Communication:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul dir=\"ltr\">\n<li>The deliberate targeting of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), which constitutes an assault on freedom of information and the public\u2019s right to access vital news.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Humanitarian Harm:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul dir=\"ltr\">\n<li>Violations of the Geneva Conventions concerning the protection of civilian populations and medical personnel.<\/li>\n<li>Deliberate attacks on hospitals and infrastructure affiliated with the Red Crescent Society.<\/li>\n<li>The systematic targeting of civilian life and human dignity, in disregard of the universally recognized and fundamental principles of international humanitarian law.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">As the specialized agency of the United Nations mandated to build peace through international cooperation in education, science, and culture, UNESCO bears a unique and weighty responsibility under these circumstances. The Organization cannot remain a silent observer while the very institutions and sites it is mandated to protect are being destroyed.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">We expect UNESCO to adopt a firm and unequivocal position in response to these flagrant violations of international law. We call upon you, in your capacity as Director-General, to condemn these attacks in the strongest possible terms.
