\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

As part of the ongoing publication of the \u201cEducation in Emergencies\u201d infographic series, the third instalment, focusing on \u201cQuality Education,\u201d has been released.<\/p>\n

Designed around five key objectives, the series previously introduced the five objectives of education in emergencies, with a focus on the first objective, \u201cContinuity of Education.\u201d This instalment explores various dimensions of \u201cQuality Education\u201d in crisis situations.<\/p>\n

The infographics define quality education as a multidimensional responsibility and address the roles of key stakeholders in the learning process, including educational administrators, teachers, families, and students, separately.<\/p>\n

The content of the infographic entitled \u201cEnsuring Quality Education in Emergencies\u201d is as follows:<\/p>\n

Ensuring Quality Education in Emergencies<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. Responsibilities of the Educational Leader<\/strong><\/p>\n

Flexibility in Educational Content (Condensed Curriculum):<\/strong> Prioritizing educational content in collaboration with teachers, removing non-essential sections of textbooks, and focusing on foundational skills (literacy and numeracy) and life skills for crisis situations.<\/p>\n

Supporting Teacher Capacity-Building:<\/strong> Providing rapid training opportunities for educational staff in \u201cteaching methods in crisis situations\u201d and the management of multigrade or flexible classrooms.<\/p>\n

Supportive Supervision:<\/strong> Shifting the approach to supervision from a focus on grades to supporting the learning process, and ensuring that teachers have the necessary tools for creative teaching, such as learning through games or podcasts.<\/p>\n

2. Teacher (Learning Facilitator)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Adapting Teaching Methods:<\/strong> Using active, game-based learning and storytelling to simplify complex concepts and reduce students\u2019 cognitive burden.<\/p>\n

Ongoing and Encouraging Assessment:<\/strong> Replacing stressful examinations with descriptive assessments and positive feedback that build students\u2019 confidence and encourage them to continue learning.<\/p>\n

Adapting Content to Real-Life Circumstances:<\/strong> Connecting lessons to everyday issues in students\u2019 surroundings\u2014for example, teaching scientific concepts through current health or environmental issues affecting students.<\/p>\n

3. Family (Learning Supporter)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Creating a Study Space at Home:<\/strong> Setting aside a quiet corner and a specific time for children to learn, even under the most constrained conditions, such as in a tent or shelter, to maintain continuity of learning.<\/p>\n

Focusing on Quality, Not Just Quantity:<\/strong> Talking with children about what they have learned rather than focusing solely on grades, and encouraging their curiosity and efforts in difficult circumstances.<\/p>\n

Communicating with Teachers About Learning Barriers:<\/strong> Informing the school when a student experiences learning difficulties due to crisis conditions.<\/p>\n

4. Student (Active and Inquisitive Learner)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Participating in Peer Learning:<\/strong> Helping classmates who have difficulty understanding lessons through peer teaching, which is itself one of the highest levels of quality learning.<\/p>\n

Focusing on Self-Directed Learning:<\/strong> Making use of available resources, such as books, radio, or educational packages, to keep up with learning even when schools are officially closed.<\/p>\n

Expressing Learning Needs:<\/strong> Having the confidence to ask questions and identify parts of lessons that remain unclear or difficult to understand because of emergency conditions.<\/p>\n
