{"id":49709,"date":"2026-08-18T09:47:36","date_gmt":"2026-08-18T06:17:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/unesco.ir\/unesco-launches-global-training-course-on-ai-ethics\/"},"modified":"2026-10-28T17:57:19","modified_gmt":"2026-10-28T14:27:19","slug":"unesco-launches-global-training-course-on-ai-ethics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unesco.ir\/en\/unesco-launches-global-training-course-on-ai-ethics\/","title":{"rendered":"UNESCO Launches Global Training Course on AI Ethics"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"post-text wp-block-paragraph\"><p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), in collaboration with the LG AI Research Institute, has launched a free global Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on AI ethics, aimed at translating UNESCO\u2019s ethical principles into practical knowledge and skills and making them accessible to interested learners worldwide.<\/strong><\/p><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"post-text wp-block-paragraph\"><p dir=\"ltr\">The course was officially launched on July 20, 2026, during the \u201cEthics by Design: Industry and Innovation\u201d conference in Seoul, the capital of the Republic of Korea, and is available to users worldwide through the <strong>Coursera<\/strong> learning platform.<\/p><\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"610\" height=\"325\" src=\"https:\/\/unesco.ir\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/1784532947631.jpg.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-43532\" srcset=\"https:\/\/unesco.ir\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/1784532947631.jpg.webp 610w, https:\/\/unesco.ir\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/1784532947631.jpg-300x160.webp 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"post-text wp-block-paragraph\"><p dir=\"ltr\">The launch ceremony was attended by <strong>Khaled El-Enany, UNESCO Director-General; Dr. Kyung Hoon Bae, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Science and ICT of the Republic of Korea; and Dr. Woohyoung Lim, President of LG AI Research<\/strong>. Representatives of the South Korean government, the Korean National Commission for UNESCO, universities, the private sector, and other partner organizations also attended the event.<\/p><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Turning UNESCO\u2019s Ethical Principles into Practical Skills<\/strong><\/p><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"post-text wp-block-paragraph\"><p dir=\"ltr\">The Global AI Ethics Course is based on <strong>UNESCO\u2019s Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence<\/strong>, adopted in 2021 by consensus among UNESCO\u2019s 193 Member States. It is considered the first global normative instrument in the field of AI ethics.<\/p><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"post-text wp-block-paragraph\">The course aims to help AI practitioners translate the principles and values set out in UNESCO\u2019s Recommendation into practical actions and skills throughout the design, development, deployment, and governance of AI systems.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"post-text wp-block-paragraph\">The course covers a wide range of topics, including algorithmic bias, risk assessment, human rights, human oversight, accountability, privacy, fairness, safety, and the responsible development of artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>A Course for AI Practitioners and Specialists<\/strong><\/p><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"post-text wp-block-paragraph\">UNESCO\u2019s training course is designed for policymakers, engineers, researchers, students, public-sector employees, entrepreneurs, and other professionals whose work is related to artificial intelligence technologies.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"post-text wp-block-paragraph\">The course is offered free of charge and is self-paced, allowing interested learners worldwide to access its content. Participants who complete the course requirements will also have the opportunity to receive a certificate of completion.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>UNESCO\u2019s Emphasis on the Responsible Development of Artificial Intelligence<\/strong><\/p><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"post-text wp-block-paragraph\">At the course launch ceremony, the UNESCO Director-General emphasized the need to ensure inclusive access to AI-related training for governments, universities, companies, and public institutions, and called for the course to be used as a tool to strengthen national capacities for the responsible development and use of artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"post-text wp-block-paragraph\"><p dir=\"ltr\">This initiative is part of UNESCO\u2019s efforts to put the <strong>Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence<\/strong> into practice and strengthen societies\u2019 capacity to address the opportunities and challenges of this evolving technology responsibly.<\/p><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Access to the Course<\/strong><\/p><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"post-text wp-block-paragraph\">Interested learners can register for and access the Global AI Ethics Course on the Coursera platform:<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><p dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.coursera.org\/learn\/global-mooc-on-the-ethics-of-ai?utm_source=chatgpt.com\">Global AI Ethics Course on Coursera<\/a><\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), in collaboration with the LG AI Research Institute, has launched a free global Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on AI ethics, aimed at translating UNESCO\u2019s ethical principles into practical knowledge and skills and making them accessible to interested learners worldwide.
