\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe specialized delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran, headed by Dr. Ali Bahreini, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations Office in Geneva, and including Dr. Hassan Fartousi, Secretary-General of Iran\u2019s National Commission for UNESCO, attended the 63rd session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva to explain and elaborate on the dimensions and consequences of the imposed wars and the hostile actions of the United States and the Zionist regime on the rights of the Iranian people, particularly the right to development.

The 63rd session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (HRC63) opened today, Monday, 7 September (16 Shahrivar 1405), at the Palais des Nations in Geneva and will continue until 9 October (17 Mehr).

During this month-long session, a range of issues will be examined, including economic, social and cultural rights, the right to development, the impact of unilateral coercive measures, and cooperation with United Nations human rights mechanisms.

Iran Focuses on the Consequences of War and the Right to Development<\/strong>

In light of the directives of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution concerning the pursuit, at the international level, of legal accountability for crimes resulting from the aggressive attacks by the United States and the Zionist regime, and with a view to making use of the opportunities offered by the Council\u2019s 63rd session, a specialized delegation, in coordination with the Human Rights Headquarters and with the active cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other relevant institutions, is participating in the first week of the session, from 17 to 20 Shahrivar 1405 (8\u201311 September 2026). Its purpose is to explain and raise awareness of the \u201cconsequences of the imposed Ramadan War, the 12-Day War, and the continuation of hostile actions for the human rights of the people of our country.\u201d

The delegation\u2019s stated objective is to explain and raise awareness of the consequences of the imposed Ramadan War, the 12-Day War, and the continuation of hostile actions for the rights of the Iranian people, particularly their right to development<\/strong>.

This participation forms part of efforts to pursue, at the international level, legal accountability for crimes resulting from the aggressive attacks by the United States and the Zionist regime, while making use of the opportunities offered by the 63rd session of the Human Rights Council.

Dr. Hassan Fartousi, Secretary-General of Iran\u2019s National Commission for UNESCO, is also a member of the specialized delegation.<\/strong>

Comprehensive Report on Damage to Scientific, Educational and Healthcare Infrastructure, as well as the Cultural and Cultural Heritage Sectors<\/strong>

At the session, Dr. Fartousi will present a comprehensive report on the dimensions and consequences of the recent attacks on the country\u2019s development infrastructure. The report will not be limited to damage to scientific and university facilities, but will also cover a broad range of the country\u2019s educational, cultural, cultural heritage and healthcare infrastructure.

Drawing on documentation and information provided by relevant institutions, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health and Medical Education, the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, and the Department of Environment, the report will outline the impact and damage inflicted on the country\u2019s development infrastructure, universities and scientific and research centers, schools, cultural infrastructure and cultural heritage, as well as healthcare facilities and infrastructure.

From Damage to Infrastructure to Threats to the Development Process<\/strong>

Given the extensive damage inflicted on the country\u2019s development infrastructure, including residential, healthcare and commercial facilities, airports, railways, bridges, universities, research centers and the environment, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, and the Department of Environment are attending the meeting. Dr. Ali Bahreini, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations Office in Geneva, is heading the Iranian delegation.

During the recent attacks and wars, parts of the country\u2019s development infrastructure, including residential, healthcare and commercial facilities, airports, railways, bridges, universities, research centers and the environment, have sustained damage.

Accordingly, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, and the Department of Environment are part of the Iranian delegation, with the aim of explaining to international forums the various dimensions of the impact of these attacks on infrastructure and the country\u2019s development process.

Side Event with the Participation of Special Rapporteurs<\/strong>

According to the arrangements made, the Iranian delegation will also participate in a side event attended by thematic Special Rapporteurs, including the Special Rapporteur on the right to development and the Special Rapporteur on unilateral coercive measures, as well as a group of experts.
