{"id":50372,"date":"2026-10-14T10:11:52","date_gmt":"2026-10-14T06:41:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/unesco.ir\/representatives-of-the-iranian-national-commission-for-unesco-attend-the-freedom-of-expression-in-practice-meeting\/"},"modified":"2026-11-02T10:20:57","modified_gmt":"2026-11-02T06:50:57","slug":"representatives-of-the-iranian-national-commission-for-unesco-attend-the-freedom-of-expression-in-practice-meeting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unesco.ir\/en\/representatives-of-the-iranian-national-commission-for-unesco-attend-the-freedom-of-expression-in-practice-meeting\/","title":{"rendered":"Representatives of The Iranian National Commission for UNESCO Attend the \u201cFreedom of Expression in Practice\u201d Meeting"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"post-text wp-block-paragraph\">Representatives of The Iranian National Commission for UNESCO participated online in the thematic information session entitled \u201cFreedom of Expression in Practice: Field Perspectives from Jakarta, Juba and Montevideo,\u201d organized by UNESCO\u2019s Africa Priority and External Relations Sector (PAX).&#13;\n<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"post-text wp-block-paragraph\">The session aimed to strengthen dialogue and the exchange of experiences among UNESCO field offices, Member States, Permanent Delegations and National Commissions, with a focus on UNESCO\u2019s field experience in the area of freedom of expression.&#13;\n<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"post-text wp-block-paragraph\">During the session, UNESCO Offices in Jakarta, Juba and Montevideo presented their experiences and initiatives in areas including the protection and safety of journalists, freedom of expression and access to information, strengthening relations between the media and law enforcement and security institutions, and the role of the media in supporting peacebuilding and social dialogue.&#13;\n<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"post-text wp-block-paragraph\">Key topics included UNESCO\u2019s experience in South Sudan in linking freedom of expression and access to information with peacebuilding processes, as well as its experience in the Philippines in strengthening professional relations between the police and the media and enhancing journalists\u2019 safety.&#13;\n<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"post-text wp-block-paragraph\">In the final part of the session, participants also stressed the importance of adapting UNESCO\u2019s programs and approaches to the diverse circumstances and needs of different countries, as well as strengthening the exchange of experiences among field offices, Member States and National Commissions.
