National Committee for Man and Biosphere
The National Committee for Man and the Biosphere (MAB) coordinates UNESCO’s Man and the Biosphere Program in Iran by strengthening national and international cooperation, promoting the conservation of biosphere reserves, safeguarding biodiversity, and supporting sustainable development.
Introduction
The National Committee for Man and the Biosphere was established pursuant to a decision of the Council of Ministers on 20 September 1987. The Committee comprises experts from national organizations, ministries, and universities, and works to identify national capacities and resources in the fields of ecological and environmental issues, enhance knowledge and expertise, raise awareness of the resources, assistance, and services available through UNESCO and other regional and international organizations, and plan and facilitate engagement with these institutions.
