The Natural Sciences Sector of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is one of the Organization’s key sectors, playing a vital role in advancing science, technology and innovation worldwide. It works to strengthen international scientific cooperation, support advanced research, and promote equitable access to knowledge and technology, thereby contributing to sustainable development and addressing global challenges.
Through a wide range of programs and initiatives, UNESCO supports Member States in strengthening their scientific capacities and harnessing science as a means to foster peace, reduce poverty, protect the environment and improve the quality of life. In this context, UNESCO’s Natural Sciences Sector serves as a bridge connecting scientists, policymakers and civil society, helping to ensure that science is placed at the service of humanity.
