National Committee for Hydrological Sciences
The National Committee for Hydrological Sciences (IHP) coordinates UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Hydrological Program in Iran by facilitating scientific and technical cooperation, promoting research and education, and supporting the sustainable management of water resources.
Introduction
The National Committee for Hydrological Sciences of Iran was established following the International Hydrological Decade (1965–1974), at the recommendation of UNESCO. Its activities were subsequently resumed pursuant to a decision of the Council of Ministers on 20 September 1987. The Committee brings together experts from national organizations, ministries, and universities who work to promote the development of activities and advance knowledge, culture, and technology in the fields of water sciences and engineering in the country. It also seeks to foster communication, cooperation, coordination, and participation among the country’s educational, research, and executive institutions, as well as to support other UNESCO hydrology-related programs at the national, regional, and global levels.
