National Committee for Earth Sciences and Geoparks
The National Committee for Earth Sciences and Geoparks (IGGP) coordinates UNESCO’s International Geoscience and Geoparks Program in Iran by promoting the development of Earth sciences, protecting geological heritage, and supporting the expansion of UNESCO Global Geoparks.
National Committee for Earth Sciences and Geoparks
The National Committee for Earth Sciences and Geoparks was established with the aim of promoting geological research in the country, fostering cooperation and coordination in national and international programs, and harmonizing studies related to Earth sciences and geoparks within the country with those conducted by other Member States and international organizations. The Committee comprises experts from national organizations, ministries, and universities.
The Committee’s statutes were approved by the Council of Ministers on 20 September 1987, establishing it as a specialized committee affiliated with the National Commission for UNESCO.
