National Committee for Information for All
The UNESCO National Committee for Information for All in Iran coordinates efforts to ensure equitable access to information, promote information literacy, safeguard digital heritage, advance information ethics, foster multilingualism, and support knowledge-based sustainable development.
Introduction
The National Committee for Information for All of the National Commission for UNESCO was established in 2002 following UNESCO’s merger of the International Program for the Development of Communication and the Intergovernmental Informatics Program, leading to the creation of UNESCO’s Information for All Program (IFAP). The Committee was established to formulate and implement activities in Iran related to the Information for All Program.
The Committee comprises representatives of relevant organizations, including the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology and the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, as well as a number of experts and specialists in the field.
The Committee addresses issues including the opportunities and challenges posed by emerging communication technologies; the ethical and social implications of the information society; the development of information literacy; the outcomes of the World Summit on the Information Society; and the expansion of information networks at the national, regional, and international levels.
