The new call for applications to join the UNESCO Creative Cities Network for 2025 has been published. UNESCO has announced that interested cities will have until 31 June 2025 to complete and submit their applications online.
The UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) was established in 2004 to promote cooperation among cities that view creativity as a strategic factor for sustainable urban development. The cities participating in the Network seek to place creativity and cultural industries at the heart of local development plans while actively fostering international cooperation. Through innovative and targeted approaches, member cities work to generate positive economic, social, cultural and environmental impacts through their initiatives. By joining the Network, cities commit to sharing their experiences and good practices and to fostering cooperation among the public and private sectors and civil society.
The Network covers seven creative fields: Crafts and Folk Art, Media Arts, Film, Design, Gastronomy, Literature and Music.
Municipalities of cities interested in joining the Network are required to carefully review the application guidelines and complete the application form in English. The completed form, together with the required supporting documents, should be submitted to the Iranian National Commission for UNESCO at culture@irunesco.org. As noted above, under the new call for applications to the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, interested cities have the opportunity to complete and submit the standard application forms by 31 June 2025.
