On the Occasion of 25 January: International Day of Women in Multilateralism
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), through a resolution adopted in 2021, designated 25 January as the International Day of Women in Multilateralism. This designation aims to strengthen the role of women and ensure their leadership in shaping peace and sustainable development for the future. |

Multilateralism, as a key approach to international interactions, seeks to address global challenges through joint cooperation among countries and various institutions. Within this approach, women, as half of the world’s population, play a highly important role.
Empowering women and facilitating their participation in social and economic roles is one of the most important steps towards achieving sustainable development and equality. Such participation is essential not only for upholding women’s rights, but also for achieving global goals such as sustaining peace and security, eradicating poverty, protecting the environment, and promoting education and health.
International Day of Women in Multilateralism should provide an opportunity to strengthen women’s participation in the public sphere, thereby enabling effective steps towards their empowerment in the scientific, cultural and social fields and creating the conditions for achieving peace and sustainable development.
