Publication of the First Consolidated Report on UNESCO Member States’ Implementation of the 2021 UNESCO Recommendation on Open Science
| The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has recently published its first consolidated report on the progress made by Member States in implementing the Recommendation on Open Science. |

The Recommendation, adopted in November 2021, aims to promote transparency, open access, scientific collaboration and the public use of knowledge generated through research.
UNESCO’s new report is the result of contributions from more than 100 Member States, including the Islamic Republic of Iran. It reviews national efforts across four main areas: policymaking, digital infrastructure, capacity-building and international cooperation. Iran has also played an active role in this process by organizing training courses, workshops and introductory programs on the principles of open science for researchers and students.
UNESCO has stated that the report aims to assess countries’ progress, identify implementation barriers and facilitate the exchange of experiences among governments and scientific institutions. The document can serve as a reliable reference for policymakers, universities, research centres and international organizations.
