In the Name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful
The passing of the renowned and much-loved artist, the late Akbar Abdi, has deeply saddened the country’s cultural and artistic community.
Throughout his distinguished career in cinema, theatre and television, he drew upon Iran’s cultural heritage to create memorable moments that have become part of the collective memory of the people of this land. He also made a valuable contribution to safeguarding and promoting Iranian cinema.

This heritage plays a lasting role in fostering dialogue, strengthening social cohesion and transmitting human values to future generations. This is precisely the mission that UNESCO has consistently emphasized in its efforts to safeguard and promote cultural heritage.
On behalf of Iran’s National Commission for UNESCO, I extend my condolences on the passing of this distinguished artist to his bereaved family, Iran’s cultural, artistic and cinematic community, and all those who cherished him. I pray to Almighty God to grant him divine mercy and forgiveness, and to bestow patience and fortitude upon his bereaved family.
