
Announcement of the 2025 UNESCO Prize for Girls’ and Women’s Education
UNESCO, in cooperation with the People’s Republic of China, is implementing the UNESCO Prize for Girls’ and Women’s Education program for 2025. |
The purpose of this Prize is to recognize innovative and outstanding initiatives implemented by individuals, institutions and other governmental or non-governmental entities and organizations working in the field of girls’ and women’s education. The Prize amounts to $50,000 and is awarded to two laureates, each receiving $50,000.
The criteria for selecting initiatives are as follows:
- The initiative must have been implemented for at least two years;
- The initiative must have contributed to one or more of the following five priority areas:
- Supporting girls’ transition from primary to lower secondary education and their completion of basic education;
- Developing literacy skills among adolescent girls and young women;
- Creating safe, violence-free teaching and learning environments that are responsive to girls’ educational needs;
- Ensuring the full participation of female and male teachers in providing education that responds to the educational needs of girls; and
- Helping adolescent girls and young women acquire the knowledge and skills they need to enter the labour market and pursue successful lives.
Accordingly, eligible organizations and individuals are invited to submit their applications to the Iranian National Commission for UNESCO, together with the completed application form, by 1 May 2025, via email to the Education Group at education@irunesco.org.
