Iranian Entry Among the Winners of UNESCO’s Global Youth Storytelling Initiative

The documentary Mahboobeh, directed by Mohammad Naseri-Rad, has been selected as one of the winning entries in UNESCO’s Global Youth Storytelling Initiative, organized by the Man and the Biosphere (MAB) Program.

This global initiative was organized to encourage young people aged 18 to 35 to tell visual stories about the coexistence of people and nature in biosphere reserves around the world. Participants were invited to use photographs or short videos to showcase examples of biodiversity conservation, adaptation to climate change, cultural traditions, and innovations related to sustainable development.

According to an announcement by the Secretariat of UNESCO’s Man and the Biosphere (MAB) Program, Mahboobeh was selected as one of the winning entries in the initiative for its creative storytelling and portrayal of the connection between people and nature. Focusing on the coexistence of people and nature in the Arjan–Parishan Biosphere Reserve, the documentary highlights Iran’s natural and cultural potential within the framework of the objectives of UNESCO’s Man and the Biosphere (MAB) Program.

It is worth noting that Iran’s National Commission for UNESCO had previously announced the call for entries for this global initiative through its information platforms, inviting young people, biosphere reserve managers, universities, research centers, and local communities to take part in this international event.
