The UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities will host a webinar entitled “AI for Lifelong Learning in Cities: Shaping Inclusive Local Action.”

The UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities will host a webinar entitled “AI for Lifelong Learning in Cities: Shaping Inclusive Local Action” on Wednesday, 15 July 2026, as part of its new global webinar series, “Unlocking the Potential of Lifelong Learning.” The series aims to bring together lifelong learning stakeholders from around the world and takes place on the first and third Wednesdays of each month.

The webinar will explore the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in developing and strengthening lifelong learning systems in cities. It will examine how learning cities can harness AI to expand learning opportunities, enhance skills, and create inclusive learning pathways that respond to local needs.

Artificial Intelligence: An Opportunity to Advance Lifelong Learning

As the use of AI expands across various fields, cities are increasingly adopting this technology to design, deliver, and expand lifelong learning opportunities. From skills development and workforce reskilling to facilitating citizens’ access to educational services, AI is becoming part of urban learning environments. One of the key challenges, however, is to harness this technology responsibly and inclusively to address the diverse needs of local communities and strengthen lifelong learning systems.

The webinar will present examples of learning cities’ experiences in using AI to advance lifelong learning. Participants will also discuss and exchange views on the opportunities, challenges, and requirements for the responsible use of AI in building inclusive, forward-looking learning systems tailored to local needs.

The webinar will take place online via Zoom on Wednesday, 15 July 2026, from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Iran time.
