The “Basavad” Cultural Campaign to Be Held in Celebration of International Literacy Day
| The General Directorate of Education of Razavi Khorasan Province, with the cooperation and support of the Iranian National Commission for UNESCO, is organizing the “Basavad” Cultural Campaign in celebration of International Literacy Day (8 September). |
The campaign aims to raise public awareness and promote UNESCO’s twelve types of literacy, as well as the six educational domains outlined in the Fundamental Transformation Document of Iran’s education system. “Basavad” seeks to broaden the contemporary understanding of literacy beyond reading, writing, and numeracy to encompass life skills, media literacy, digital literacy, financial literacy, and other important educational skills and dimensions.
The campaign offers a valuable opportunity for university students, student teachers, cultural practitioners, and the wider public to contribute to the development and promotion of new forms of literacy by creating innovative content and participating in cultural activities. The deadline for submitting entries has been extended to 21 November of this year.
Interested participants can join the campaign using the contact information provided on the event poster and play an effective role in strengthening public awareness and empowering society.
