UNESCO’s Persian Version of the “Readiness Assessment Methodology” Published

The Persian version of UNESCO’s Readiness Assessment Methodology (RAM) has been translated and published by The Iranian National Commission for UNESCO to facilitate access to the methodology for researchers, policymakers, government institutions, and other stakeholders in the field of artificial intelligence in Iran.

This document, published on UNESCO’s website in 2023, was developed to operationalize the UNESCO Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence (2021). Versions are also available in Spanish, English, Portuguese, Arabic, and French. The publication of the Persian version can facilitate the use of this framework to assess various dimensions of the country’s readiness to address the rapidly evolving developments in artificial intelligence.

The UNESCO Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence emphasizes the need to guide, develop, and deploy this technology in a manner that respects human rights and dignity, justice, inclusiveness, sustainability, and the public interest. The Readiness Assessment Methodology also provides a framework for understanding the current situation, identifying capacities and gaps, facilitating dialogue among stakeholders on AI-related policies, and outlining practical pathways for policymaking and governance in this field.

The results of this assessment can be used to develop a national report and roadmap for strengthening institutional and human capacities, improving policies and regulatory frameworks, and advancing the development of artificial intelligence in the interests of society.
